(Welcome Cheri!)

Haven't tried Weight Watchers but calorie counting seems to produce some results. (Not lasting results for me yet, but we're working on that just like you are.)

My trick has been to take a 1/4 cup measure to work and scoop out snacks like raisins, dried soybeans, seeds, etc. I also use it for oatmeal. The neat thing about that is you can count scoops rather than calories (it's a lot easier to remember 4 scoops than to remember 360 calories).

Quite a few of my friends have also used Weight Watchers, and they love it. I think the biggest deciding factor between the two is whether you can hold the course solo, or if you want/need constant reinforcement, group support, and predetermined guidelines (i.e., WW's "point" system). Many women seem to do better in a group environment. That being said, I'm not one of those women--I could never bring myself to go to a WW meeting, and trying to keep track of calories or points drives me nuts. I've had better success just by being aware of what a serving size is and how many calories that entails (kinda like slimmify's 1/4 cup trick above).

One other thing to take into consideration right now is the cost, since following a diet plan on your own is a lot cheaper than using Weight Watchers. If you're in a money crunch, that answer your question right there.

Hope these thoughts help a little, and good luck.
